Oakland JROTC Battalion

Our Mission

The mission of JROTC is to motivate young people to become better citizens. JROTC is here to provide structure and aid in the growth, well-being, and academic success of students. Here is a leadership and character development course designed to prepare students to utilize positions of increasing responsibility beyond college. Students in Oakland JROTC are known for their academic excellence, but more importantly, they are known for their strong sense of integrity and responsibility they carry with them both on and off of the school campus.

There are six teams you can join as a JROTC cadet. These teams are almost entirely cadet led and challenge the individual's strength, coordination, discipline, and mind.

Every Friday of the week, cadets are required to participate in PT. PT days alternate between casual sport/game days and circuit training days. Circuit training is a group exercise in which cadets work in their squads, moving from station to station (each with a different exercise), and completing one lap around the gym between each station. Before every class we do sit-ups, push-ups, and pull-ups.
